- jan-21: we were all walking on the wet dock out at the waterfront singing “teenage dream” and trying not to think about graduationÂ
- april-4: i took part in this absolutely rad medical program at a local hospital over spring break. we got to look in on surgeries, examine human organs, perform ultrasounds, and be generally badassÂ
- april-5: one day after shadowing surgeons at the hospital, nikita and i went to morgan’s beautiful empty house on the island and made quesadillas and fruit salad while conspiring about boys and cuddlingÂ
- april-6: ya know, there’s this one blonde kid who keeps me in stitches from a forty minute drive and an hour ferry ride away. whenever we get any closer than that, good things happen
- april-21: the sculpture park on a sunny spring day with some smart girls from my history class…what could be better?
- may-1: finished my senior seminar paper—the product of four months of intense research and writing. my seventeen page baby, not including the annotated bibliography, on the benefits of political moderation. this paper consumed the spring of my senior year, but i still can’t believe my brilliant and ferocious nun english teacher gave me an A
- may-13: anne drove grace, nikita, priyanka and i to see desmond tutu speak. that alone was inspiring enough to make me cry, but i also got to see, hug, and speak with the brown-haired boy who had long been a hopeless dream that spring
- may-28: remember that blonde boy? yeah, he came to my city, stuck by my barefooted side, had me smiling all day, and even the sun came out to say hello
- june-2: jocy, anne, morgan and i went for a hike up rattlesnake. wearing hiking boots in the rain and getting your hands muddy reminds you of what’s real, you know?
- june-3: face-painting, half-hearted sunburns, best friends, authentic tacos and an outdoor movie before you walk home alone but for the orange sunset that makes you think of a time when the concrete of those streets stood up and hugged you
